NADIYA: Partnership with Ukraine

Nadiya (nah-DEE-yah) is the Ukrainian word for HOPE.

CENTER OF OUR WORK

The Three Pillars of Nadiya

Providing nourishment, community, and connection through focused initiatives.

Volunteer here to help provide and support monthly distributions of fresh, nutritious, and culturally appropriate produce to over 60 refugee
families in our local area.

Bethany volunteers collaborate with Ukrainian gardeners and COPE to cultivate a shared space to grow produce, honoring traditional Ukrainian gardening heritage.

We build deep relationships with our Ukrainian neighbors by serving together, sharing meals, worshiping, and participating in traditional craft classes.

How We Serve Our Neighbors

In FAITH

We seek to follow Jesus’ example to provide care to the Ukrainian refugees living in our community who are displaced as a result of an ongoing war in their country.

In ACTION

Our congregation gathers in service and solidarity to love our neighbors and meet the immediate, practical needs in the Ukrainian refugee community.

In CONNECTION

We celebrate cultures and keep hope of a peaceful future as we walk by faith in God together, building bridges of lasting friendship.

From Immediate Need to Lasting Community

In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, forcing thousands of Ukrainian families to flee their homes. Many of these displaced families found refuge right here in Nebraska.

In 2024, Bethany was asked by COPE (Elkhorn’s local food pantry) to help answer a critical need: providing fresh produce once a month to local Ukrainian families. Fresh produce is a central staple in Ukrainian cooking, but often hard to come by in standard food pantries.

From that simple monthly distribution, our friendship and support for these resilient families grew to include a shared community garden and ongoing opportunities to learn from one another.

Answering the call to offer hope to the most vulnerable in their time of need.

Celebrate What Happens When Neighbors Come Together

Together, these efforts create opportunities to share hope,
build lasting friendships, and serve side by side in faith.
