Local Community Missions

At Bethany we are committed to following Christ's command to love and serve his people.

Through this love and service, we strive to encourage and inspire our community both locally and globally. 

 

Hunger

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink... Matthew 25:35

Sack Hunger for Kids: Bethany provides non-perishable breakfast foods, snacks, and drinks for children in need in the Elkhorn School District. 

Open Door Mission: Bethany sends volunteers to serve at the Open Door Mission on the first Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m 

Meals on Wheels: Bethany volunteers deliver meals each week, Monday - Friday, to senior citizens in need. 

Bethany Community Garden: Bethany is committed to growing fresh produce for local families in need. 

COPE: Located in Elkhorn and also serving the communities of Waterloo, Valley and Gretna, COPE offers support to anyone regardless of religious, cultural, or ethnic background. Learn more about COPE here.  

 

Shelter

You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. Isaiah 25:4

Habitat for Humanity-Elkhorn Coalition: Bethany and Habitat for Humanity work together to support low-income families in Western Douglas County in achieving their dream of owning a home. 

Hands and Feet: Bethany volunteers support homeowners in Western Douglas County through small repair / remodel projects for those who are unable to afford professional work. 

 

Mentoring

Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Psalm 31:3

Silver Friends: Bethany volunteers are matched to a senior citizen residing in a skilled nursing facility. Once matched, the Silver Friends will meet for an hour each week to build a meaningful relationship.

Prison Ministry: Bethany volunteers meet with inmates on a regular basis to share Christ and build healthy, positive relationships. 

School Mentoring: Bethany volunteers are paired with students who are struggling academically, socially or emotionally to provide ongoing support for student success.
